In his POND series, Robert Roth explores the essence of nature through a dreamlike lens. His paintings capture the quiet poetry of reflection—the shimmer of light on water, the space between reality and abstraction. Each work becomes a dance of color and form, where leaves drift across shifting hues at water’s edge, evoking both the physical and the spiritual. Roth’s paintings carry the lyrical sensibility of Matisse coupled with the spontaneous vitality of Abstract Expressionism, yet they remain distinctly his own voice. Through loose, impasto brushwork intertwined with organic shapes of vibrant collage, he creates compositions that seem to breathe— alive with rhythm, depth, and light. Roth guides the viewer through moments of stillness and transformation—both natural and meditative. “Nature is my inspiration,” Roth says. Every living thing exists in relationship to other things. I try to channel that very connection—these works are my visual poems, perhaps touching the emotion of a day spent by a pond, watching the dance of life unfold.”
