MIDNIGHT GARDEN
2025
Midnight Garden is a series inspired by my ongoing relationship with nature. These paintings live in the dreamlike space between observation and imagination, where light shifts, forms dissolve, and moments quietly unfold. I’m drawn to reflection, the shimmer of color, and the subtle balance between what’s revealed and what’s left open. The works evolve through a loose, intuitive process. Leaves, stems, and garden forms drift across layered surfaces, flattening into near abstraction before sometimes settling into something familiar. There’s a quiet structure beneath the freedom—a gentle nod to cubism—yet the paintings remain fluid and responsive. Color and form move together, creating a sense of rhythm, depth, and breath. My influences range from the lyrical sensibility of Matisse coupled with the spontaneous vitality of Abstract Expressionism, but the goal is always personal. I work with impasto brushwork and vibrant collage elements to build surfaces that feel alive—shifting, atmospheric, and tactile. Nature has always been my starting point. Every living thing exists in relationship to another, and I try to channel that connection here. These paintings are my visual poems—quiet, meditative spaces that invite the viewer to slow down and enter the feeling of a midnight garden, where the dance of life continues softly in the night.
